I would be suprised if anyone has a solution for this that doesn't involve some sort of change at your end. Help with Zotero Plug-in for Chrome - Zotero Forums My report ID is 158422549.

It's common for software to not support old systems/software. Zotero is a powerful, easy-to-use research tool that helps you gather, organize, and analyze sources and then share the results of your research. You can not have Zotero in Firefox and Standalone open at the same time.

It's cumbersome exporting from one system into another. Zotero Standalone is a separate software download that is not tied to the Firefox browser.Standalone has connectors that work with Safari and Chrome browsers as well as Firefox. I wouldn't recommend this based on being close to the end. However, it sounds like if you want to use Zotero, you're going to have to:Ī) Keep doing what you're doing, sticking with High Sierra and use a secondary browser for citationsĬ) Give up on Zotero and find another citation system altogether that works with High Sierra. Zotero is a powerful, easy-to-use research tool that helps you gather, organize, and analyze sources and then share the results of your research. I can understand when you're used to certain software (e.g. You are also at a difficult stage of your PhD research where stress levels are high. Zotero connector does not work with the older browser.

To clarify: you have an older computer with an older browser (High Sierra). If you got this far, thank you for reading: Does anyone have an idea that might help me find a way to use a Safari connector on High Sierra?

meaning i've potentially created the same issue for others. I'm really regretting choosing Zotero for my thesis and feel absolutely awful, as previously I would recommend this to anyone who would listen. This is honestly so stressful I could cry. Using Chrome significantly slows down my computer, at least once a day it freezes my Mac. Aside from how clunky and buggy both systems are, neither manage bookmarks and reading lists as well as Safari - which is a big part of my process.Ĭurrently, I need to add an extra step in of copy/pasting links from my reading list to Chrome (Firefox is a hard no) in order to save the citation, or enter it in manually. I also find Chrome and Firefox to be awful browsers, I briefly tried Chrome and I Firefox and absolutely hated it. It's really not as simple as that! This would fundamentally change the way I work. It's so frustrating that the response to users like me seems to be a dismissive " Just use Chrome or Firefox". Zotero opted not to make this work for those on High Sierra when Apple changed the way extensions operate. I have a mid-2011 iMac that can't be upgraded beyond High Sierra (even with a patch), which means I no longer have access to the connector on Safari. For me, this means updating some of the chapters that were written a couple of years ago with information that has happened since. This phase of a PhD is stressful anyway, so please be kind. I know a lot of people don't get this, but I can't afford a new computer and changing the way I work so close to submission is a truly bad idea.
